Victoria BC Canada rally at legislature, May 15th, 2008

Be safe!

Our friendly migratory birds transport the ticks that carry Lyme disease around at random. Biting insects such as mosquitoes and horse flies have also been shown to transmit the disease.

We do know Lyme is being misdiagnosed as other illnesses, or not diagnosed at all. Lyme disease is robbing many Canadian children of their youth and adults of their careers.

Lyme disease can cause serious long-term health issues if not identified and treated early. It can affect the brain, eyesight, hearing, nervous system, muscles, joints, digestive tract, skin and most organs including the heart, liver, spleen, and kidneys. Because Lyme disease is a multi-system disorder many systems of the body can be affected at once.

Ticks that carry Lyme disease can be found in your lawn, on logs, on your pets, your Use fine tipped tweezers to remove an attached tick. Prevention is the best medicine.

update....

Dr, Murakami just called Dawn- he said he had gotten back from Cali! What a Doc- so hes checking her latest tests- which will be done tommorrow.

Heres a pic from his retirement dinner a few weeks back. Hes awesome & cares for the patients!

On her way

This lovely girl has lymes- my Sis called tonight to fill me in....
Dawn is thinking of heading down to Cali as well in the Summer. My prayers go with Marie & family. I actually spoke to her Mom last week and e-mailed with her Dad- what a family who has endured much like ours......

As of Friday May 23, 2008...

A lot has happened since Marie left the Duncan Hospital as shown in the YouTube Video.

Marie is going to Dr. Harris' clinic in Redwood California for treatment, having an appointment for next Tuesday

With the aid of a very kind LLMD in Seattle, we've managed to get two other very ill Vancouver area Lymies in to see Dr. Harris the day after Marie's appointment, and they will travel with Marie!

A corporate aircraft will be leaving Van Int South Terminal for Victoria at 12:00 PM on Monday with our comrades Shannon, her hubby Graham, and Peter aboard.

Marie's plight and her YouTube video have brought new Lyme awareness, and the maltreatment of BC/Canadian patients to the forefront, and it is a major embarrassment to our Health Care "Regulators" on a world-wide basis.

It has also brought concerned Politicians into the picture.

Randoms........

Saturday night- the Bf & I went for a lovely dinner to the Sonoma Grill in Langley- where the James B event was held in April. We had won a silent auction as well as the other prize. So we each had a blackberry martini- yum!
Then we had Apricot Brie chicken again- so delic!!!!!!!! We shared a crab cake as
appy then we shared a plate of brie cheese w crackers & fruit. We ate it all!!!!!!

oh yes before hand my bf gave me a wonderful "just because" card. With loving thoughts. I loved the surprise! Even more so when he took me to Whistler to lunch the next day out of the blue! We cruised & listened to Abba!
A great man! I tell ya. I have not been there since I was very little. Beautiful! We got a bit burnt- but it was worth it! We had a quick lunch then headed back.

What a heart felt reply! It was wonderful to get this in my inbox:) Ill never give up the fight for Lymes

Dear Betsy,

I understand that you had a good talk with my assistant earlier this afternoon.

I cannot imagine the distress and pain that Dawn has endured over these years.

I think that you are absolutely correct about the public being largely unaware about the dangers of Lyme disease.

It is certainly something that our doctors must have heightened awareness of given the incidents of infection.

I am going to pop outfront of the Leg and join the Rally tommorrow afternoon so I too, can learn more about it and

stand in solidarity with those working so hard to increase our awareness..

Thanks you again for taking the time to inform me of this critical issue.

Please extend my very best to Dawn and your family.

Sincerely,

Too bad we are working...

Hi CanLymies,

There will be a rally held in Victoria BC on May 15th 1:00-2:00PM.

"This is to announce that BC Lymies will be holding a rally at the BC Legislature in Victoria on Thursday May 15th. We will be joined by CanLyme president Jim Wilson, Dr. Ernie Murakami, South Saanich MLA David Cubberly, and possibly one or more of the McQuhae family.

All Lymies are invited, particularly from BC. The press will be in attendance.

The three active BC support groups have shown strong support for this event and are working together to ensure its success. We are at a critical point in bringing about significant change in BC, and this event will show our government that, like Lyme, we are not going away.

All we need is for you to send your email address and phone # to vancouverlyme@yahoo.ca Please invite others.

- We will organize a carpool and can travel together on the ferry
- Those who have to travel far can be billeted at others' homes
- We will provide stylish wristbands
- We will probably even have some fun!

We have to keep the pressure on.

Jim M. Wilson
President
CANADIAN LYME DISEASE FOUNDATION
A Federally-registered Charitable Organization

Hopefully this will bring awareness out of this ill-fated disease. I have written to the media and will do some more e-mails this week. One bite can destroy... many lives. Until it happens to you- noone can fully ever understand.

Pippa McGee is a bridesmaid. Again.
Taking a weekend break from her freewheeling life as a travel writer and toxic bachelorette, Pippa returns to her hometown to serve as yet another bridesmaid at yet another wedding. From the moment she gets off the plane, it's a disaster. Jet-lagged and behind schedule, Pippa makes a spectacle of herself, downing martinis and hitting on men. She struggles home tipsy, only to discover that her widowed tyrannical, publishing mogul father has had a heart attack. Lying frail in his hospital bed, he has only one thing on his mind: he needs an editor for one of his magazines. Pippa volunteers, excited. What's the magazine? Travel? Politics? No. He needs her to run Wedding Bells.

How can Pippa McGee adapt to a 9-to-5 life? Write about puffy dresses after hiking in Bali? Deal with being reminded on a daily basis that she is 29 years old and completely, utterly single?

In a cruel twist of fate, her dad assigns her a publishing mentor. Ian Gray is both her father's vice-president, and the man she'd hit on unsuccessfully at her friend's wedding.
